Our Mission
The idea to create The Foundation began when our dental practice celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2007. In addition to having a party, my dad and I created the Generations! Clinic Fund within the University of Colorado Foundation. These funds are disbursed to provide dental care for senior citizens of low means whose dental conditions are affecting their overall health and quality of life. While these funds have been used extremely efficiently to provide dental care for many seniors, the parameters are strict and there is quite a bit of university red tape that makes the distribution of funds a frustratingly slow process.
Raabe Family Dentistry Charitable Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with three main missions:
Clinical Care. When there is compelling need, we are a “rapid response” entity to provide or assist in care. The people with the most need-- who have “slipped through the cracks” in access to insurance or funding is usually the first criterion we evaluate; with people who can document volunteer service or other good works in the community given priority.
Service. In addition to providing direct clinical care. We encourage the mentality of serving those in need. For example, some of the students that I have taught at The University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine have expressed interest in participating in a dental service trip with the amazing organization Global Dental Relief. I am certain that assisting these students with expenses of such a trip will instill in them a life-long desire to give back as they can.
Policy. As our country navigates the complex terrain of healthcare reform, we will be a voice with a long historical perspective and experience in advocating for equitable, efficient and compassionate care for all—and particularly those with less resources or access.
